Barbara Quinn

Barbara Quinn is a co-publisher and co-editor of the North Peninsula Review newspaper. She is a longtime Cathedral Park resident and North Portland activist. She has a BA in Graphic Design from Portland State University, a Master of Divinity from Marylhurst University and studied art history in Siena, Italy as a student. She has a strong interest in art, especially medieval art and calligraphy. She was a writer for the former St. Johns Review newspaper for a number of years and currently writes regularly for the North Peninsula Review newspaper. She is also chair of the Friends of Baltimore Woods, a volunteer group that seeks to preserve and restore a wooded corridor of native Oregon oak habitat in North Portland.

St. Johns’ historic WPA-era murals covered up

The murals, painted under a federal program for public art in 1936 at what was then a post office and is now a Bahá'i center, depict a dominant white culture and could be moved to another site that can put them in context.
