Cibyl E. Kavan

Cibyl Kavan is an artist, arts educator and avid gardener who lives in the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette river watershed. Cibyl holds an M.Ed and completed teaching artist training through Arts For learning Northwest and the Lincoln Center. In her studio practice she works in a variety of media from murals, painting, photography, textiles, botanical illustration, printmaking, and bookmaking. Curiosity and a sense of play guide her artistic research. Cibyl has shown her art in Portland and the region including Talisman Gallery, Lower Columbia College, The Drawing Studio, Portland Open Studios, Local 14, and Trinity Cathedral. As an arts educator, Cibyl has been a community volunteer arts educator for both children and adults in Portland Public Schools, Trinity Cathedral, Zen Community of Oregon, Saturday Academy as well as taught private classes from her home studio. She currently teaches preschool-8th grade art at The Ivy Montessori School, a public charter school in N. Portland. Her arts curriculum is structured with a DEI lens that introduces students to a wide range of artists, media, and visual arts expression from around the globe.
