Kaya Noteboom

Kaya Noteboom was born in Portland, Oregon in 1999. She is a writer of personal essays, art writing, and cultural criticism. She holds a BA from the University of Oregon where she studied Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies, as well as Creative Writing. Kaya currently lives in Portland where she’s enrolled in the MA program for Critical Studies at PNCA with special interests in post-colonial studies, affect and aesthetic theory.

Imagining a new future: ‘Make Banana Cry’ at PICA

The much anticipated finale of PICA's "Time-Released" programming is the work of Andrew Tay and Stephen Thompson. The performance engages with representations of Asian identity with a sense of play, recognition and, ultimately, reclamation.
