PuzzleWatch: Byrd and Besties

Get ready for the return of the William Byrd Festival with a Renaissance-themed crossword puzzle.

The beginning of William Byrd’s ‘Mass for Five Voices’

Harken, ye fans of Renaissance music and British history!

After a two-year hiatus, the William Byrd Festival returns to Portland next month. The three-weekend Festival begins August 5 and continues through August 21, and includes choral and organ performances, as well as several illuminating lectures. (You can view the entire schedule on the WBF website.)  Watch for the Oregon ArtsWatch preview of the festival in the coming week.

But for now, have some fun tapping and enhancing your knowledge of William Byrd—his life, music, his British contemporaries—and Cantores in Ecclesia, the Portland ensemble that’s provided the choral foundation for the Byrd Festival for 23 years.
